Guided Nature Walks
T
he area is ideal for naturalists and we have designed an interpretive trail around Siwash Lake for your enjoyment. As you walk this pathway, you'll encounter various ecosystems and view biodiversity in wetlands, riparian and aquatic zones, grasslands and forests. You'll observe the beauty and intricacies of our native flora, while learning interesting facts about each plant along the way, many of which are either medicinal or edible!

Swimming
Siwash Lake is a private lake and we have a dock that extends out to deep water for wonderful swimming right in front of the lodge. And while riding, hiking, or biking in the warm summer months of June, July and August, you'll probably want to cool off in the crystal clear waters of a backcountry lake or river. If you happen to be on horseback, there's plenty of room in your saddle bags for a towel and our horses always go out wearing a halter and lead-rope so your trusty mount can be tied safely to the nearest tree.

Mountain Biking
Our
extensive trail system provides over one hundred miles of enjoyable mountain biking. Explore a wide array of challenging terrain - river canyons, rocky bluffs, meadows, marshes and woods. Trails include gravel backcountry roads, dirt tracks, double-wide grassy paths and challenging, steep little paths. The bikes are on a rack beside the lodge, so you can hop on and go, anytime (bring your own helmet).

Hiking
Hike to our favorite mountain lookout, or check out the breath-taking scenery of Crater Lake and its accompanying waterfalls. The riding trails double as hiking and biking trails, and routes of varying duration and challenge are available – everything from an all-day hike to an hour’s fitness loop around the ranch property. Our friendly ranch dogs make great guides and love to tag along.

Canoeing
Explore Siwash lake by water. Bask in warm sunshine sparkling on azure depths, listen to the wild call of a loon, and inhale the sweet scent of pine wafting by on a gentle wind. Stretch out your paddling muscles and investigate our aquatic flora and fauna - an old beaver lodge, unusual breeds of wild ducks and geese, and brilliant yellow water lilies. On the far shore, tucked at forest's edge, you'll find ruins of the homesteader's cabin.

Guided Wildlife Tracking
Discover all the fascinating habits and characteristics of wildlife that make their home here: moose, deer, black bear, cougar, coyote, wolf, beaver, porcupine, pine martins … the list is endless — plus an abundance of exotic insects and aquatic life. Learn how to identify scat, tracks and other sign, with the opportunity to spot animals in their natural habitat.

Bird Watching
Enjoy the grace, charm and song of birds in their wild habitat. The ranch has completed a conservation project on the lake in partnership with Duck's Unlimited Canada, which has enhanced the already thriving ecological system. Avid bird watchers can observe many species right from the lodge, including water fowl, prey birds, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, chickadees, nuthatches, grosbeaks, and fly-catchers, to name a few, as well as many of nature's precious song birds.

Sight-seeing
Once a month throughout the warm season, there’s a local rodeo held at one of the nearby towns. It’s a chance to watch some great horsemanship, take in some regional colour and culture, and some great entertainment, too. For other day-long road trip excursions from the ranch, there's a five-hour circle route that takes in the western city of Kamloops and all of its attractions, as well as some incredible, super natural B.C. scenery along the way.

R&R
You are welcome to do nothing and simply catch up on some rest and relaxation at this tranquil hideaway. Pamper yourself amidst the luxurious amenities of your guest room, savoring complete peace and quiet apart from the birds singing outside your window. Outdoors, retreat to the sundeck or hammock, where you're free to curl up with a good book all afternoon if you so desire....

Gold Panning
Your host, our resident gold mining enthusiast, will share his passion for finding gold with you. At the ranch, he'll teach you the intricacies of gold panning while entertaining you with interesting stories about this age-old pursuit for pay dirt. The ranch is located along B.C.'s historic Gold Rush Trail, so with your new skills you can head off on a day-long gold panning excursion, starting at Lillooet, which is Mile "0" on the trail, and continuing northward along the picturesque banks of the mighty Fraser River, back up to 70 Mile House and the ranch.

Outdoor Games
Anyone for badminton? Or how about ranch-style bocce ball (a rustic version of lawn bowling, played in the home meadow - great fun for players of all ages) There's also plenty of grassy field space for baseball and soccer

Evening Entertainment
The relaxed ambiance at the ranch is one that reflects quality living, freedom and good fellowship - so we encourage a selection of unstructured evening activities that we hope will enhance this character. We suggest fireside, homespun story telling or games like Charades and Monopoly. Just curling up beside the wood-burning stove with a glass of fine wine and a good book may be a pleasant option for you. Some nights there may be a nature slide show, western dance lessons, fly-tying, singer-guitar player or a fun game of Texas Hold’em poker. On others, we may roast marshmallows over a campfire, stargaze and if we’re lucky, watch the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).
